cgm.core is the new rewrite of the ‘core’ of the CG Monks toolkit. We are very excited to be working with Mark Jackson (Red9 – his tool kit is kept up to date in our collection) and are using his MetaClass setup as a base of much of what we’re doing.

Some of the foundation principles:

  • MetaClass foundation for more intuitive coding
  • Unit testing – all functions in core need to have unit tests to 1) ensure they work well and 2) keep us from breaking things so easily
  • Maya nodes wrapped as mObjects via the api so no node need ever forget their name:)
  • Easy naming of objects
